MOONEY VS. FOWLE, a Florida Focus screening, will be held at the Bill Cosford Cinema at 7 p.m. The 1961 Florida high-school football championships pitted two Miami rivals (Miami High and Edison High) in an historic showdown at the Orange Bowl. A pioneering work in the cinéma vérité documentary style, the film was considered too controversial at the time for its candid, uncensored depiction of the contrasting motivational styles of the two coaches and their treatment of the players. On its 50th anniversary, we present a true Florida “From The Vault” screening. Jim Lipscomb (Director), Oris Mooney, Pete Kiernan, Jerry Pearson and Phil Tedder will be present for intro and Q&A.
