Encuentros: Eight Years of Success!

The Encuentros Program began in 2003 within the structure of the Miami International Film Festival.
The idea was to bring interesting and commercially viable projects from both Spain and Latin America
to Miami. A mix of both established as well as new and up-and-coming directors and producers from
the region were invited to have meetings with distributors, international sales agents, financiers, and
many key industry people to establish a dialogue and create lasting relationships.

Now in its Eighth year, Encuentros has surpassed that initial mandate and has seen many success
stories come from the program. One of the biggest pleasures has been to see some of the films that
Encuentros has supported play at Film Festivals around the world. But most exciting is to be able to see
those films play here in Miami to local audiences and to welcome the filmmakers back with their finished
pieces. We are proud to announce that this year Son & Moon (Encuentros 2007) will be part of the Dox
competition.
