A component of the Festival’s Florida Focus program, CinemaSlam 2012, Miami International Film Festival’s film school competition, aims to discover, showcase, and celebrate the work of undergraduate and graduate students in Miami’s film schools.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Three films from each school will be selected as CinemaSlam Finalists in an American Idol - style voting contest, with 50% of the score determined by online public voting and 50% determined by a select group of faculty judges from each school. The winning film from each school plus the overall grand prize winning short CinemaSlam Champion will be selected by MIFF’s esteemed CinemaSlam Jury. The Judges will also be awarding category awards for (1) Best Comedy (2) Best Drama (3) Best Experimental, Documentary or Animation (4) Best Technical Achievement, (5) Best Actor (6) Best Actress and (7) Best Director.
CinemaSlam winners will be announced and screened at the Tower Theater on Sunday March 4, 2012 at 2:00PM as part of the 29th International Film Festival, (March 2 – 11, 2012).
