World Premiere of MAGIC CITY MEMOIRS, directed by Aaron J. Salgado at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts at 6:45 p.m. Three Miami high school friends — Mikey, Eric and Angel — revel in their world of private school privilege and lax parental oversight while living large on the hip-hop lifestyle of parties, fast cars, fast boats and easy sex. WITH OR WITH LOVE (Una hora más en Canarias), the latest from Spanish director David Serrano (The Other Side of the Bed, El otro lado de la cama) will screen at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts at 9:45 p.m.
The film stars popular Colombian actress Angie Cepeda (Captain Pantoja and the Special Services, Pantaleón y las visitadoras), Spanish actor Quim Gutierrez (Dark Blue Almost Black, Azuloscurocasinegro), Spanish actress Miren Ibarguren (Aída), and Colombian actress Juana Acosta (of the 2011 Golden Globe-winning television mini-series Carlos). In the sun-drenched Canary Islands, Cupid and Eros play with the hearts of beautiful wine shop owner Claudia (Angie Cepeda) and her business partner, Pablo, who fights to stay faithful to his fiancée, Elena. FOR 80 DAYS (80 Egunean), directed by Jon Garaño & José Mari Goenaga) will screen at Regal South Beach Cinemas at 7 p.m. Fast friends separated for more than 50 years, Axun and Maite meet by chance again in a Basque country hospital. The chemistry that existed between them is still apparent, and day-by-day the two 70-year-old women comically and movingly explore a newly permissible love for each other.
